Oaxaca de Juarez
Niyana is a sustainable eco-hotel at the heart of Oaxaca City. This project is meant to lead the way in sustainability, local sourced products and community experiences.
Niyana is a transition project towards sustainability. We’re conscious of our social and environmental impacts and we strive to build a network which allows for different local and national projects and proposals that explore the shift towards a better balance with their environment while promoting cooperative economies to thrive within a conscious tourism ecosystem.
The name Niyana comes from the Mazateco Ni’yaa na, which means “My Home”, because we aim to build a community that makes everyone who comes through our space feel right at home in our beloved Oaxacan territory. Home is where our heart is, and that’s exactly what we hope Niyana is for you.
We are located in downtown Oaxaca close to Zocalo, Jalatlaco and Templo Santo Domingo.
We are small scale hotel, offering local touches and a high level of coziness while providing excellent service. We have 10 rooms and a patio where you can work and relax.
Niyana has all you need to enjoy yourself around Oaxaca City for a day or weeks.
Niyana’s amenities are designed to remind us of our relationship with the earth through awakening of our senses and the conscious re-thinking of our daily habits. Niyana is built with bricks and adobe, the exterior is covered with soil paint, the interior finishings are made out of white lime powder, and the flooring is made out of mexican wood for the interiors and natural rocks for the exteriors.
All Niyana rooms have private bathrooms. We have a mix of King, Full and individual size beds per your budget.
*DISCLAIMER: Since we’re an eco-friendly accommodation, we use dry toilets in our bathrooms to save water. These work by adding sawdust instead of flushing every time we use the toilet.
Our bio-hotel is located on the edge of the historic center of Oaxaca, at a 10 minute walk from the ‘plaza central,’ the heart of the city. At a walking distance you’ll find plenty of bars, restaurants, markets, and other points of interest.
